Teaching and Research Management Main Points of NTU Highland Experimental Farm
As of 2004.03.01. Farm Management Team Meeting Results

  • The Highland Experimental Farm of National Taiwan University (hereinafter referred as “The Farm”) set up these points based on the doctrines of teaching, research, demonstration, and promotions to fulfill the purposes of teaching and research jobs, serving the society, and educating the people.
  • The teaching and research activities of the Farm include teaching, practice, experiment, research, demonstration, promotion, seminars, lectures, training, and taking advanced courses which relate to the utilization and protection of Taiwan mountain resources, academic education and society services jobs.
  • The implementation methods of our teaching and research activities are as follows: cooperation with other parties, public evaluation, requests by other parties or sponsoring by ourselves. They can either be short-term projects (shorter than one year) or long-term projects (longer than one year).
  • The funds utilization of all our teaching and research activities must reach the breakeven point of revenues and expenses. The fund should list any activities we sponsor into the budget, under teaching practice and research development. For the activities involving cooperation with other parties, the project leader should release a business plan or a cooperation agreement. The business plan or cooperation agreement should be presented to Teaching and Research Division and approved through the Farm Management Meeting. When approved through the Farm Management Meeting, the funds can be provided by the budget of the Teaching and Research Division; or requested as funds from government or a related party; or acquired from cooperation party per mutually agreed contact. If the budget is not approved or the funds cannot be attained, the activity should be pending until further funding sources can be found.
  • If the activity is sponsored by an outside party, that party should not only be responsible to cover all the expenditures in the Farm but also is required to pay the administrative cost and facility maintenance fees. The details are as following (per month and unit ground standard): Glass Type Greenhouse: NT$100,000, Plastic Type Greenhouse: NT$800,000, Ground field: NT$30,000. However, for activities which coordinate with government policy, the experimental plan of school and research units, the charge standard can be separately decided by Farm Management Meeting.
  • Any outside party sponsored projects, unless otherwise specified, must present an application within one month. Once presented to the Teaching and Research Division and approved through Farm Management Meeting, it can be executed per signed agreement between the Farm and applicant party.
  • To effectively boost the teaching and research functions, we can publicly evaluate and acquire cooperation plans through decision of Farm Management Meeting. The cooperation should conform to the following three principles: 1- The plan contents must beneficially boost the teaching and research functions and levels of the Farm. 2- The plan contents should not be the items which the Farm has maturely operated. 3- The resources requirement of this plan should not affect the normal operations of the Farm.
  • Within 3 months after the project is completed, the project leader should present the activity records or research reports to the Farm. The Farm Management Meeting shall review the performance to decide whether to support further activity in the future. If the report is not presented within the specified timeframe, the related party will not be allowed to use the Farm for the next twelve months.
  • All these points are implemented after approval per Farm Management Meeting. If the request of revision is raised, the revisions are also needed to be approved by the Farm Management Meeting.
